Frequently Asked Questions

Q:    Why is the reunion being held in Richmond?

A:    Richmond is central to many who will attend and within driving distance for most. It is also a location with a long history as a place where Stables family members lived and prospered. Richmond also has many activities and resources for visitors. We have found that accommodations, restaurants, and things to do are affordable in Richmond, for the most part.

Q:    Where in Richmond will the reunion be held?

A:    Lunch and most events will be at the Garden Hall next to the Maymont Mansion at Maymont Park. Other park attractions will be open and family members are encouraged to take advantage of them. They include a Nature Center, a petting zoo, various animal exhibits, a Japanese water garden, an Italian garden, and the historic mansion. Directions to the Hampton entrance to Maymont Park.

Q:    Is it going to be more than a picnic?

A:    We are still planning and all suggestions are welcome. However, we are hoping to have several events planned in addition to a main gathering/eating event. If we are successful you will be able to choose one or more activities that suit you and that fit into your schedule. One possibility is a tour of sites of significance to the Stables family in and around Richmond. We will also suggest other activities that you can arrange for yourself and others who may want to join you. King's Dominion, anyone?

Q:    How much is this going to cost?

A:    We are working to keep the cost low. We do not know yet what the charge will be, but as soon as we do we will post it.

Q:    Where do I sign up?

A:    As soon as we establish the price we will notify you and we will set up an on-line payment method. Since this is a family reunion we are trying to use the opportunity to document as much of the family's history as we can, so we may ask a number of questions about you and your family at the time of registration. We hope you won't mind and you will help us out.

Q:    Is there something I can help with?

A:    You bet! A number of ideas have been suggested for activities and ways to make the reunion more fun and more meaningful. If you would like to help please contact Leslie or Linton.
